INDUCE TRANCE STATE (preferable but not necessary)
"You can speak in an altered state of consciousness, without awakening, just as you talk in the dreams of the night. And in a moment, still remaining in this altered state of deep relaxation and concentration, I want you to begin to review your situation (re ?) and think about what you want. I want you to review your situation and your desires slowly, thoughtfully, and carefully. As you do so, the sound of your voice, whenever you speak, will simply take you deeper and deeper into a more relaxed state of greater concentration, in which you can continue to talk, without any interruption of your review.
So, in a moment, as I tell you to begin, you can slowly, thoughtfully describe your situation from beginning to end. Describe your situation (re ?) in detail, and the very specific goals you have for yourself, going deeper and deeper into an altered state of profound relaxation and concentration as you speak. Now, begin to slowly describe your situation (pause).
Good. Now, in a moment, I want you to speak again. I want you to slowly, carefully, and thoughtfully indicate what you need, and what you want. And as you slowly speak, with each word, your unconscious mind can take you into a deeper and deeper state of relaxation and concentration. The mere sound of your voice will take you int a deeper and deeper state, in which you can continue to talk to me, listen to me, answer questions, and do anything asked of you. You will find yourself in such a deep state that you will be under most powerful urge to do precisely what you need to do to follow instructions. Now, in this meditative and thoughtful state, slowly review precisely what you need and what you want. (Pause). (If necessary, help the client occasionally to be more specific, for example, by asking "When," "How often.").
All right. Now continue to drift into a deeper and sounder state of relaxation and concentration with every breath that you take. As you continue to go deeper, I am going to have you outline the remedies and actions that will be necessary to accomplish what you want. Once again, as you speak, you will continue to go into a deeper, more profound state of relaxation and concentration, with every sound of your voice, and with every word you speak. Simply the sound of your voice will take you into such a deep state of relaxation and concentration that you will find yourself inclined to do exactly what you have been instructed to do. So, in a moment, when I stop speaking, I want you to slowly, thoughtfully, describe exactly what you need to do. (Pause). (As necessary, very briefly question the patient for greater specificity and detail).
Very good. And continue drifting deeper, and deeper into comfort. In a moment, I am going to ask you to speak again. And I want you to specify, in great detail, precisely what is necessary, and exactly what you will do, so that you will reach your goals. As you speak, you can do so with an increasing effortlessness, allowing your unconscious mind to take over, and take you into a deeper, and more profound state of relaxation and concentration, with each sound of your voice. And you find yourself in such a deep state of relaxation and concentration that the things you indicate are necessary, the suggestions you give yourself, will profoundly influence your thoughts, feelings and actions. You are in such a deep state of relaxation and concentration that you will feel inclined from deep within you to do precisely what is suggested. Now, thoughtfully, slowly, and in detail, indicate exactly what you will do, so that you will have what you want. (Pause)
Very good. Now just rest, going into an even deeper and sounder state of relaxation and concentration, as each breath takes you deeper. (Pause) Now in a moment, I want you to speak again. And once again, as you speak, each sound of your voice will take you deeper; so deep that you will find yourself under a most powerful urge to do exactly what is suggested. Now I want you to slowly, emphatically, and in full and comprehensive detail, to say again precisely what you will do. (Pause)
REPEAT THIS PROCEDURE ONCE OR TWICE MORE
Now before returning to a normal state of conscious alertness, I want to point out that I have offered you no advice or suggestions. Every suggestion has come from you yourself. And your suggestions will sink deep into your unconscious mind, and profoundly influence your thoughts and feelings, and your actions. You will find yourself under a powerful urge, arising from deep inside you, to do everything that you have suggested. You will feel unconsciously moved, deeply inclined, to do the things that you yourself have suggested.
